Three representatives of TEB/Verdum occupational centre, Joan Plasencia, Toni Domènech and Vicenç Bermejo, have been trained throughout this quarter to become ‘senior’ sports leaders.

They have carried it out jointly with other participants of Finestrelles Foundation, Sant Tomàs and Tallers Foundation as part of the European project EIT Health, led by Trinity College Dublin and promoted locally by the University of Barcelona (UB).

Throughout 6 training sessions, led by physical activity professionals in the Sports Service of the UB, the participants, all of them over 40 years old, have learned dynamics, activities and applied pedagogical strategies.

The objective is to enable them to become sports promoters within their organisation and encourage the practice of physical exercise to their peers of similar ages.

Sports promoters in all TEB

With the knowledge acquired, the sport leaders have already energized 5 sessions of physical activity with TEB/Verdum elderly companions.

The prospect for 2019 is that they can spread the activity and their expertise to the rest of the TEB centres.
